Everyone grumbled. The sky was grey.
We had nothing to do and nothing to say.
We were nearing the end of a dismal day,
And then there seemed to be nothing beyond,
Then
Daddy fell into the pond!
And everyone's face grew merry and bright,
And Timothy danced for sheer delight.
"Give me the camera, quick, oh quick!
He's crawling out of the duckweed!" Click!
Then the gardener suddenly slapped his knee,
And doubled up, shaking silently,
And the ducks all quacked as if they were daft,
And it sounded as if the old drake laughed.
Oh, there wasn't a thing that didn't respond
When
Daddy Fell into the pond!
Было скучно и грустно,
Не о чем было поговорить.
Тучи покрыли ясное небо,
И дождик не переставал лить.
Вдруг мой папа в пруд упал,
Все вокруг повеселели,
Тимати затанцевал
И фотоаппарат достал.
И садовник засмеялся,
И утята закряхтели.
Только папа не смеялся,
И в пруду он задержался.

Смотрите как это красиво,
Чешуйка каждая едина
Блестит на солнце он игриво.
И ухмыляется всем рыбкам:
“Добро пожаловать ко мне!”
А рыбки тоже не простые,
Они все будто золотые.
И улыбаясь очень нежно,
Зовёт он рыбок за собой.
Но знают рыбки ,что хитёр он,
И в миг уплыли все домой.

Snake Mistake

One morning in my bedroom I was startled by a
snake, so I picked him up and took him out and
threw him in the lake. He returned a minute later,
meaning, no, he didn't drown, so I put him on my
bicycle and rode him out of town.It was hardly half
an hour till he turned up in my room,so I packed
him in a parcel and I shipped him to Khartoum.
When I found him back again on the succeeding
after noon I went looking for a way that I could blast
him to the moon.When I couldn't find a rocket it
was then I knew that, dang,a snake is yours forever
once he eats your boomerang.
Однажды утром в моей спальне
Случайно я нашёл змею.
Я очень был испуган этим,
Схватив её , я бросил в пруд.
Змея вернулась очень рано,
Минутой позже, может быть,
Схватив велосипед свой резво,
Помчался в пригород я с ней.
На следующее утро
Увидел снова я змею,
И в этот раз решил я змейку
Отправить на Луну.
Но не нашёл ракеты я,
И понял истину друзья,
Что эта змейка-бумеранг
Летит ко мне ,
Летит и к вам.
