(hereinafter referred to as 3S Lift ) warrants that commencing from the date of shipment to the customer and continuing for a period of the longer of one year thereafter, or the period set forth in the 3S Lift warranty, the product described in the manual will be free from defects in material and workmanship under the normal operation and service when installed and operated following the regulations and provisions of the manual. This warranty is made only to the original user of the product. If there were defects in material and workmanship for the service lift, and the sole and exclusive maintenance and the entire liability of 3S Lift, under this limited warranty, (1) at the option of 3S Lift, a replacement of the Product with a similar new or reconditioned Product of equivalent value, or a refund of the purchase price if the product is returned to 3S Lift, prepaid expenses. (2) The obligations of 3S Lift are expressly conditioned upon return of the product in strict accordance with the return procedures of 3S Lift. This warranty does not apply if the product (1) has been altered without the authorization of 3S Lift or its authorized representative; No warranty is provided against damage resulting from reconstruction or modification of equipment or use of non-original parts which are not approved by the manufacturer. (2) Use of non-original parts which are not approved by 3S Lift, during the reconstruction or modification of product; (3) has not been installed, operated, repaired, or maintained in accordance with this Manual or other instructions from 3S Lift; (4) has been subjected to abuse, neglect, casualty, or negligence; (5) resell the product to others. Except for specific regulations in the limited warranty, ALL EXPRESS OR IMPLIED CONDITIONS, REPRESENTATIONS AND WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OR CONDITION OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, SATISFACTORY QUALITY, COURSE OF DEALING, LAW, USAGE OR TRADE PRACTICE ARE HEREBY EXCLUDED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW AND ARE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMED BY 3S LIFT. Cautions ATTENTIONS! To avoid accident—read and assimilate all instructions in this manual before operation! a) Only qualified personnel can perform the installation, maintenance and operation of the service lift and its suspension. b) The personnel must be over the age of 18 years old, and can understand the solutions to possible problems or have acquired professional training. The personnel’s educational level must be executed in accordance with the requirements of local laws and regulations. c) d) e) The personnel are obliged to read and understand this manual. Prior to installation, all parts must be tested to ensure their safety and full functionality. j) Self-locking nuts must be used at all the time, and the followings must always be observed: The screw must extend from the nut by at least 0.4 of the thread diameter. The nut cannot be used anymore when it is possible to loosen by hand. k) Prior to installing the suspension system, ensure that the tower is able to bear the load. l) If any damage or failure may jeopardize personnel’s safety during operation, immediately stop the work in process and notify the supervisor or owner. m) All installation and repair of electrical equipment must be performed by qualified electricians. The manual must be handed out to the operator and must always be available for reference during operation and installation. n) All repair of 3S Lift traction hoist, SL3 SafeLock and the parts must be performed by qualified technicians. If a third party is entrusted with one of the above tasks, the owner shall appoint an experienced supervisor in charge of operation. o) If any supporting parts are repaired or replaced, the operational safety of the system must be tested and verified by professional technician. p) Use of non-original parts, in particular use of other wire ropes other than the specified original 3S Lift wire ropes will void the manufacturer’s warranty. q) The operator should keep in touch with the supervisor through communication equipment such as interphone or mobile phone. r) No modification, extension or reconstruction of the service lift is allowed without the manufacturer’s prior written consent. 3S Lift will not be responsible for the damage or injury caused by using parts not approved by original manufacturers. Service lift design lifetime is 20 years, annually uses 12.5 hours, and totally is about 250 hours. CAUTION! To avoid danger—please strictly follow all instructions in the manual! f) i) The installation, upward or downward travel of the service lift involves possible danger of falling. All people inside the danger area shall wear Personal Protective Equipment (safety helmet, full body harness, shoes and fall arrester, which will prevent from falling down by means of a safety system secured to the building. s) g) Only fault-free suspension device, original parts, 3S Lift traction hoist, SL3 SafeLock, original 3S Lift service lift specialized wire ropes and stopping devices can be used. h) Electrical connection of the system must be made in accordance with EN 60204-1. The tower owner must verify the requirements for the third party service lift inspections with the local authority, and comply with the specified standards and codes. 3S Lift Service Lift for Wind Turbine Generators 3 3. Introduction to service lift 3.1 MODEL Product series of Service lift: WindMaster ( For the details, please consult 3S Lift) 3.2 FUNCTION The service lift described in this User’s Manual is designed for: The service lift is equipped with a SafeLock (SL3 SafeLock) on the safety wire rope to prevent accidental falling of the service lift. The SafeLock can sense the service lift’s running speed constantly, if the service lift’s speed overpasses the SafeLock’s preset speed (see table 11 ), the service lift will be locked by the SafeLock, so as to guarantee the service lift’s safety. a) Transporting technician or materials inside wind turbine tower to certain height. b) Transporting for installation, inspection and repair inside wind turbine generators (WTG). 3.4.3 OPERABILITY The service lift is permanently installed inside the WTG, it does not apply to the following situation: by turning switch from 1 to 0. Operation switches are situated both inside and a) At drilling construction site; b) On the permanent building surface; c) As a crane lift; d) In explosion hazards environment. 3.3 WORKING ENVIRONMENT Operating temperature: -30℃~ +60℃ Before operating the service lift, turning Elevator Power switch to position 1, turn on power. When the lift is not used, turn off the power of the lift outside the service lift cabin. The switches have two modes: MANUAL and AUTO. In MANUAL mode: the service lift can travel upward and downward intermittently; In AUTO mode: service lift can travel upward and downward continuously. Inside the cabin, the control panel is equipped with a display screen. During operation, the display screen will show the current status and give relative code accordingly. Survival temperature: -60℃ ~ +75℃ Relative humidity:<95% Low temperature version is available upon request. Operating temperature: -40℃~ +40℃ 3.4 SAFETY 3.4.1 TRACTION HOIST The service lift uses a 3S lift traction hoist, as transport equipment which goes up and down along the guiding wire rope and the lifting wire rope hung on the suspension beam to the top of the tower. 3.4.2 FALL ARREST 4 User’s Operation Manual (Read clause 4.4.2.2 in the user’s operation manual for detail). 3.4.4 OVERLOAD PROTECTION The service lift is equipped with an overload protection device to prevent the service lift from overload running. (See operation manual clause 4.4.2.8 for detail). 3.4.5 STABILITY Two Guide wire ropes on right and left sides of service lift (WINDMASTER-RS) to prevent the service lift from swiveling and/or tilting. Ladder guided service lift (WINDMASTER-L) will take ladders installed onto tower as guild rail to prevent the service lift from swiveling and/or tilting. 4. COMPONENTS 4.1 STRUCTURE OVERVIEW 4.1.1. Before operating, users must wear Personal Protective Equipment (safety helmet, full body harness, safety lanyard and fall arrester, etc). CAUTION! Outside-Cabin Control is only used for transfering material or empty lift. NOT for transfering people. For carrying objects or materials, the weight of objects or materials shall not be more than 140kg. Outside control buttons are: UP button, DOWN button and E- STOP button (see Fig.12). Prior to operation, turn the AUTO/MANUAL to AUTO mode (see Fig.11); press the UP button, then release it, the service lift will move upward; When it should stop or in case of emergency, press the EMERGENCYSTOP button, the control circuit of service lift and the power of driving device will be cut off, the service lift will stop working (so going down does); To resume the operation, turn the switch clockwise to make it pop up. DOWN EMERGENCY- STOP UP Inside-cabin control buttons are: Power switch, AUTO/MANUAL switch, UP button, DOWN button, EMERGENCY-STOP button, and display screen (see Fig.11). Prior to operation, turn AUTO/MANUAL switch to MANUAL mode; Press and hold the UP button, the service lift will move upward, release the UP button, the service lift stops (so going down does); In case of emergency, press the red EMERGENCY-STOP button, the control circuit of service lift and the power of driving device will be cut off, service lift stops. To resume the operation, turn the EMERGENCY-STOP clockwise to release. When the service lift’s power switch is turned on, the display screen will show all status and give relative code accordingly. When the lift is not used, all the devices should be stopped and power should be cut off. 4.4.2.3 Outside-cabin control DANGER! Do not operate the service lift from outside cabin if passenger is in the lift. Fig. 12 After the work, it requires to switch off the service lift and power off the main switch. 4.4.2.4 SafeLock The service lift is equipped with a SafeLock (see Fig.10) on the safety wire rope to prevent accidental falling of service lift. The SafeLock can monitor the service lift’s running speed constantly, if the service lift’s speed overpasses the SafeLock’s preset speed, the SafeLock will activate to stop the service lift from falling. When SafeLock is locked, the display screen will show relative code accordingly, and then unlock the SafeLock according to instructions. SafeLock will be activated again. 14 User’s Operation Manual a) If the lifting wire rope is broken, the service lift will fall Lifting wire rope Safety wire rope Lifting wire rope broken, service lift falls When the dropping speed of service lift reaches the preset locking speed, the locking mechanism will be activated to prevent lift from falling. Fig.13 b) Traction hoist failure, the service lift will fall. In emergency, the locking button can be used to lock the service lift. IMPORTANT! In emergency, the SafeLock can also be engaged by pushing down the locking button of the SafeLock. IMPORTANT! When the service lift has return to the starting platform, test the SafeLock function. IMPORTANT! Check the unlocking and locking function of SafeLock every time before operation. CAUTION! It is not allowed to run the service lift when unlocking, locking or overspeed locking function fails. It is required to return the SafeLock back to the factory for repairing. Safelock is required for recalibration, after it has run for 6 years or 250 hours continous service within 6 years. CAUTION! In case of no power and the SafeLock is locked on the safety wire rope under tension, evacuate from the service lift according to the evacuation procedures. 4.4.2.5 Safe door The door of service lift is equipped with trapped-key switch. When the service lift’s door is not closed completely, the service lift will not move, and the 3S Lift Service Lift for Wind Turbine Generators 15 display screen will show relevant code. When the devices on the top cabin are required to inspect or repair, it also can climb up via the top access door. (See Fig.14 ) Bottom access door (Only for ladder guided service lift) Bottom access door is located at the bottom of cabin. Lift up the bottom access door, hang access door up according to the bottom access door operation instructions. (See Fig. 15 ) There are accessories such as handrails and pedals in the cabin. In emergency of operating the service lift, evacuate from access door via safety lanyards, handrails and pedals. (See Fig.14 ) 16 User’s Operation Manual a) Top sensing switch While ascending, if the top sensing bar is pushed down by any object, the top sensing switch will be triggered to stop the service lift ascent (See Fig.16 ). Meanwhile, the display screen will show relative code. b) Top limit switch Top limit switch is installed on the top of the service lift, once it touches the stop disc during ascending, it will be activated. At the same time, the display inside the cabin will show the limit information and the service lift stop moving. ATTENTION! Once the top sensing switch or top sensing bar is activated, push DOWN button until it is deactivated. c) Ultimate limit switch If the top limit switch fails, the ultimate limit switch will be activated when it touches the stop disc. Then the circuit power will be cut off, and the display screen will show relative code. In this case, the service lift cannot ascend or descend. The service lift should be inspected by technician to repair the top limit switch. DO NOT continue to operate the service lift. DANGER! Do not use the service lift when top or ultimate limit switch fails. d) Bottom sensing panel In the following situation, the bottom limit switch will be activated to stop the service lift. The status display screen will show relative code accordingly: The bottom sensing of the service lift is pushed up when it encounters obstacle ; The bottom sensing of the service lift touches the starting platform. Reduce the load to below the overload limit; the service lift can work normally. ATTENTION! During operation, the display screen will show all status and give relative code , operator can observe it at any time. Overload due to the service lift’s swinging will not be displayed on the screen and the service lift will keep working under such situation. On the roof of the cabin, there are safety anchors (See Fig. 17). When the operator is taking the lift inside cabin, he needs to connect one hook of their safety lanyard to one safety anchor to ensure their safety. ATTENTION! Manual descent is ONLY for emergency usage. When using the manual descent, it shall descend the service lift to the nearest platform, and then evacuate from ladder. 4.4.2.11 Emergency lamp (Optional) a) 4.4.2.9 Manual descent (Only for emergency) Use manual descent in case of power failure. Manual descent: a) Follow instruction and manually push the red manual descent lever upward. (See Fig.17 ). The service lift will descent at constant speed. b) If stopping pushing the lever, the service lift will stop descending. In charging state, red indicative lamp flashes, and the green indicative lamp will flash if full charged. The lamp will flash if pressed down the emergency light switch, and it will be off if pressed and hold the switch by 3 seconds (See Fig. 18 ) b) Under the state of power-off, press the button of emergency light, the lamp will be 10% brightness on; press once again, it will increase the lamp brightness to 50%; press the button again, the lamp will be 100% bright; press the button again, the lamp will flash; press again, the lamp will be off. And it will circulate as mentioned above. 3S Lift Service Lift for Wind Turbine Generators 17 c) Check whether the lifting and safety wire ropes are in normal condition and not tangled. 5.3 PATH WAY OF SERVICE LIFT a) Make sure that there are no obstacles within the service lift’s path way, the obstacles may seriously affect the lift’s function. b) Make sure that all required protection measures below the cabin are in place and in good condition. Dail y inspection 5.1 SERVICE LIFT a) Before each operation, ensure that the 3S Lift traction hoist, the SL3 SafeLock and all auxiliary components (limit switches, wire rope fix sleeve, etc.) are mounted according to specifications and without any noticeable defects. b) Check whether the lifting and safety wire ropes are fed correctly through the guide rollers on both side of the lift. c) Extra lifting and safety wire rope at termination must be coiled separately at the floor and tied with counterweights, the lifting rope weight must be freely rotated and moved up or down during the entire lift traveling. d) Check the service lift capacity: the load (workers plus materials) must not exceed 240kg of rated maximum lifting capacity. For carrying objects or materials only by auto mode, the load shall not be over 140kg, considering the lift is stopped in the air, operator should access the lift and make it operational. e) Check whether the power cable is collected evenly in the cable collection bin, without overflowing or tangling. 5.2 WIRE ROPES AND SUSPENSION BEAM a) While operating the service lift, check whether the lifting and safety wire are fed into the traction hoist and the SafeLock correctly. b) When service lift reaches the top of the tower, check the connection of the wire ropes and suspension beam (the safety of suspension beam and the reliability of the additional safety protection wire). 18 User’s Operation Manual 5.4 CONTROL FUNCTION a) Emergency stop: If push down the EMERGENCY-STOP buttons either inside or outside the cabin, both UP and DOWN buttons will not work. To restart the operation, turn the EMERGENCY-STOP button clockwise to make it released. b) Top limit switch: During ascending, press top limit switch’s roller lever or the top sensing bar, the top limit switch can be activated and the service lift will stop immediately. After releasing the top limit switch’s roller lever or the top sensing bar, the service lift continues to travel upward. c) Ultimate limit switch: If the top limit switch is disabled, once the ultimate limit switch is activated during ascending, the power supply will be cut off, and the service lift will stop working and alarm sounds immediately. The service lift cannot work anymore, it need to be repaired by qualified personals. d) Bottom sensing panel: During descending, if the bottom sensing panel touches ground or obstacle from any direction, the service lift will stop immediately. Remove the obstacle, and the service lift can continue descending. ATTENTION! Only if the top limit fault solved, then it can use the service lift e) Door key-trapped switch: when the door is open, the service lift cannot travel upward or downward. f) Operation in AUTO mode: turn AUTO/MANUAL button to AUTO mode; push down then release the outside UP or DOWN button, the service lift will work automatically. ATTENTION! If any failure is found during lift operation, please do as following: Stop work; Protect the workplace, if needed; Rectify the failure(see table 15 ) DANGER! Make sure that nobody is exposed to danger below the service lift, for instance: there may be some object falling from above. Suitable measures: install pend roof or barriers. 5.5 HAND HELD CONTROL PENDANT (OPTIONAL) If the service lift is equipped with a hand held control pendant, test the following functions: a) Prior to using the control pendant, turn the AUTO/MANUAL button inside the cabin to MANUAL mode. b) Turn the EMERGENCY-STOP button to inactivated status, press the UP/DOWN button, the service lift will ascend or descend. c) When using the control pendant outside the cabin, pay attention to the control cable’s length. d) When the testing is done, press the EMERGENCY-STOP button, and put the control cable and the control pendant back into cabin pocket. 5.6 SAFELOCK a) Press down the locking button, when a “click” sound heard, the SafeLock is locked onto the wire rope, then the wire rope cannot go through the SafeLock (see Fig. 10 ). access door. 6. Out of service 6.1 STOP THE SERVICE LIFT ON THE STARTING PLATFORM a) When not using the service lift (or repairing the service lift), in order to release some components’ load stress on service lift. The operator can use manual decent to lower the lift down until the bottom leveling feet touch the platform, ensure that the four feet land on the starting platform. b) Push down the EMERGENCY-STOP button and cut off the power supply. c) If there is a guard rail on the platform, close the door on guard rail if applicable. d) If the service lift stops working temporarily (equipment testing or intermittent operation), just bring down the service lift to the bottom sensing panel engaged, then push down the EMERGENCY-STOP button and turn off the power supply. DANGER! The manual descent function is forbidden to use when the service lift is in normal condition. It will cause damage on the speed limiter inside traction hoist if manual descent is used for longer time or longer distance. 6.2 FAILURE CAUTION When failure occurs, stop the service lift on the ground (See clause 6.1 ) or cut off the power supply. Put the “OUT OF SERVICE” signboard on the service lift, and contact qualified technician for repairing. b) When the SafeLock is engaged, to unlock the SafeLock by pushing the long lever clockwise to its limit position. When a “click” sound is heard, the SafeLock is unlocked; the lift can go upwards and downwards through the safety wire rope normally. (see Fig. 10 ). Monitor the function of the SafeLock during operation through the top 3S Lift Service Lift for Wind Turbine Generators 19 7. Unlock SafeLock Once the SafeLock is engaged, the safety wire will be gripped by the SafeLock. The display screen will show related error code. Unlock the SafeLock by the following steps: DANGER! When the lifting wire rope is broken or the traction hoist fails, evacuate from the service lift. DANGER! Once the SafeLock is engaged and the service lift is suspended on the safety wire rope, the SafeLock cannot be unlocked until the following measures have been done. a) If power is available, turn off the service lift’s power (power switch), several seconds later, press the UP button and turn on the power at the same time. Make the service lift go upward about 3 second, and then stop. b) Unlock the SafeLock by pushing the long lever clockwise to its limit (see Fig.10 ), until you can not feel any elastic force, and heard a click sound. c) If power is not available, you can manually ascend the service lift and unlock it through hand-wheel (see Fig.19). (Specific steps please ATTENTION! When the service lift parks on the starting platform, check the SafeLock’s function (Read section 5.6 in the user’s operation manual). ATTENTION! It is not allowed to run the service lift when the unlocking, locking and overspeed locking function of the SafeLock is failed. Any fault safelock should be checked 3S Lift technician for further operation. 8. Emergenc y evacuation instructions For ladder guided service lift, operators can directly go to the ladder through the access door of service lift to evacuate. ATTENTION! Evacuation from service lift, only when service lift or wind turbine occurs unforeseen accident, or when the manual descent function is failed. Detailed evacuation plan, please see appendix 3 check the safelock unlock method in the operation manual. When the new or overhauled Safelock has run for 6 years or accumulated running time over 250 hours whichever comes earlier, the Safelock needs to be overhauled by 3S Lift. 3S Lift Service Lift for Wind Turbine Generators 21 9.1 ANNUAL INSPECTION Have the entire system, especially the traction hoist and the SafeLock, tested by a qualified technician authorized by 3S Lift at least once a year. The frequency of testing also depends on the condition of use and operation. The 3S Lift traction hoist and SL3 SafeLock must be tested by 3S Lift authorized party. New test certificate should be issued for every 250 accumulative operation hours. ATTENTION! If the SafeLock is activated, a qualified technician must verify the safety of the SafeLock, the wire rope and related parts. The tower owner must ensure the annual inspection and special inspection are logged. (See the Appendix) 9.1.2.1 For a new SafeLock or the recalibrated SafeLock, during each annual inspection, always perform the following works: a) Inspect the locking function by pushing down the locking button, alarm (E-18) function; b) Inspect the unlocking function of SafeLock by turning the long lever to the left limit. c) For safety wire rope only, remove the counter weight and uncoil the extra wire rope under the starting platform. Pull the safety rope upwards quickly by hand and inspect the over speed locking function. Then repeat the second step to unlock. 9.1.2.2 In the high temperature and high humidity areas, the coastal areas or the offshore areas, if the SafeLock has been used for 3 years, during annual 9.1.1 3S LIFT TRACTION HOIST 3S Lift hoist normally does not need special maintenance, it should be cleaned when getting very dirty and the cleaning should be performed in ventilated environment. Gearbox oil replacement should be conducted after 250 working hours or after 6 years of service, whichever comes earlier. Lubricant 1.2L SHC632 (or equivalent) recommended: After the first oil change, it is suggested that the oil quality should be checked every 6 years when the hoist is maintained. If the lubrication oil is not transparent, the oil should be changed. inspection, do extra inspection works: the Safelock shall be disassembled and evaluated by 3S Lift qualified technicians. If there is any abnormity in the above inspection, it is required to send the whole project SafeLock back to factory for overhaul. 9.1.2.3 If the SafeLock has been used for 250 hours or for 6 years whichever comes first, during annual inspection, must remove the SafeLocks, and send them back 3S Lift for overhaul, or overhaul them by 3S Lift qualified party. Annual test: a) Make sure no apparent visual defects after dirt removed. b) Check the rope inlet and outlet holes if some abnormal wears c) See the traction hoist part in appendix 4”3S Lift service lift routine inspection list”. 9.1.2 SL3 SAFELOCK 22 User’s Operation Manual Fig.21 9.1.3 SERVICE LIFT Annual test: Check service lift (as specified in the user’s operation manual section 5.1). 9.1.4 SUSPENSION BEAM/ WIRE ROPE/ CABLE Fig.24 Always keep the wire rope clean. The rope surface should not be applied with corrosive grease or oil. Applying method: Normally one technician stands on the top of lift, another technician operates inside cabin to make the lift to descend, the top technician applies lubricant onto wire ropes by means: spraying can, brush, rollers, or drip applicator, make sure the lubrication made evenly. A poor lubrication may lead to corrosion or quick wear of related components. An excessive lubrication may lead to dirt accumulation on the rope surface. A correct lubrication keeps proper hoist traction and extends wire rope life. 3S Lift Service Lift for Wind Turbine Generators 23 b) Power cable Check and replace the cable if the cable sheath and connector are damaged. Repair the cable collection bin if damaged. Check the cable collection function into cable collection bin. If the cable cannot be collected correctly, should remove the twisting stress on the cable, and recollect it orderly by running the lift a few times up and down in entire trip. c) Wire rope guiding rollers Ensure the guiding rollers can run through guide wire rope smoothly, details please see the installation manual 2.2.3 9.1.5 OVERLOAD PROTECTION/ SIGNAL Annual test: a) Check whether the electrical components have any defects, whether the display screen can show correct overload code. b) Perform overload test. (See 4.2.2.8 ) 9.1.6 LABELS Check the completeness and legibility of all the signs and labels. Repair or replace them if not meet the requirements. 9.1.7 REPAIR The service lift repair can ONLY be performed by the original manufacturer or third party authorized by 3S Lift, and ONLY original spare parts shall be used. The gearbox oil replacement shall be performed by original manufacture or technicians authorized by 3S Lift. 3S Lift is not responsible for any consequences caused by not following the above stipulations. 9.2 TROUBLE SHOOTING a) All test and repair of the electrical components should be performed by a qualified electrician! b) Maintenance and repair on the 3S Lift traction hoist, SL3 SafeLock and the system’s supporting components should be performed by qualified technician only! Push the DOWN button in the MANUAL mode, and pull the wire rope out from the top of the service lift, then release the DOWN button. REMOVE THE SAFETY WIRE ROPE a) b) Keep the SafeLock in unlocked condition, and then manually pull the wire rope upwards. Ordering spare parts Wire ropes Describe the model and the serial number of the service lift, especially the 3S Lift traction hoist model, wire diameter and serial number. Hoist Describe the model number and the serial number. Electric control When ordering the spare electrical components, describe traction hoist model, serial No. and part name. There is a wiring diagram in the electric control box for reference. SafeLock Describe the model and serial number of the service lift, especially the model number of the SL3 SafeLock, also describe the wire diameter and the serial number. Photos are always helpful for identifying the correct parts. Labels and signs Verify the completeness and legibility of all labels and signs. Replace missing or illegible ones! For safety reasons, the cabin has at least the following warning signs: Maximum admissible load. Storage conditions: 28 User’s Operation Manual Installation manual The Installation Manual, as well as the User’s Manual shall be learned and assimilated before installing the service lift. Make sure that all specified parts are available. The warranty will be void against damage and injury resulting from not following this “User’s Operation and Installation Manual” i.e. reconstruction or modification of equipment or usage of non-original parts which are not approved by original manufacturer. 1. Installation for ser vice lift 1.1 Installation pr ocedur e Install ladder guided service lift and wire rope guided service lift correctly according to the following instructions: IMPORTANT! Prior to installation, make sure all the installing holes are pre-drilled. Open the package box of the service lift, and get all parts ready. IMPORTANT! Installation personnel should wear PPE and fall protection equipment. a) Normally use the electrical chain hoist to lift the wire ropes onto the top of turbine, then move e) Move the service lift close to the guiding ladder, and install the support arms. (Ladder guided) f) Install the guiding wire fix sleeves on both sides of service lift. (Wire rope guided only) g) Mount wire fix sleeves onto fixed plates which are on each platform. (Wire rope guided only) h) The guide wire rope shall be tensioned by tensioning unit on the starting platform. (Wire rope guided only) i) Tension the lifting and safety wire rope by counter weights or tightening springs. j) Tension the Guide wire ropes by tensioning device, such as tripod. (Wire rope guided only) k) Adjust the travel distance of limit switches both at the bottom and top of the service lift, to ensure them working properly. l) Inspect the operation and function of the service lift according to the manual. them to the top platform, mount the wire ropes and secondary protection sling onto the suspension beam. b) Bring the stop disc to the top of the turbine tower, and mount it onto the safety wire rope. c) Bring the two guiding wire ends with shackles to the top of the turbine tower, and secure them onto the suspension beam. d) Connect the power (380V 3P+N+PE, 50Hz) by plugging the power cable underneath the service lift. KEY POINTS FOR INSTALLATION Secondary protection wire Suspension beam 2.1 INSTALLATION FOR LADDER GUIDED SERVICE LIFT 2.1.1 INSTALLATION FOR LIFTING AND SAFETY WIRE ROPES a) The length of the lifting and safety wire ropes depends on the working height of the service lift inside the turbine tower. Uncoil the wire correctly, and do not pull wire over any sharp edges. Strictly prohibit using excessive force to drag the ropes. Before hoisting the top portion of the turbine tower, to save efforts, it is better to fix the wire ropes onto the top platform or use crane hoist to lift the wire rope to the top platform. After connecting the wire rope with the suspension beam, slowly drop the wire rope to the bottom of the tower. c) 32 ATTENTION! Correctly distinguish the position of the lifting wire rope and the safety wire rope: lifting wire rope goes through the traction hoist and the safety wire rope goes through the SafeLock. Make sure these two wire ropes are not tangled. The operator should connect the thimble end of wire rope to the install hole of beam and install the secondary protection wire at the same time ( See Fig.4 ) Installation Manual ATTENTION! Secondary protection wire must pass throught the thimbles. 2.1.2 INSTALL THE STOP DISC The stop disc must be installed onto the safety wire rope and make sure the distance between the stop disc and the wire thimble is more than 200mm so that the service lift can ascend onto the platform completely. (See Fig.6 ) IMPORTANT! The lifting wire rope is on the left, the safety wire rope is on right. Stop disc is installed on the safety rope. a) b) c) d) Fig. 6 2.1.3.2 If the traction hoist needs to be installed or replaced onsite, do the following steps to fasten the two nuts under the load sensor. Fasten the M16 nut manually until it cannot be rotated by hand any more, then turn the nut (360 degree) by wrench. Finally fasten the lock nut against the upper nut. Connect the power supply to service lift. Manually feed the lifting wire rope through the hoist’s wire inlet opening as far as possible. In manual mode, press and hold the UP button and then the wire will get into the traction hoist automatically. Release the UP button when the wire comes out of the traction hoist for about 200-300mm, then stop the traction hoist. Route the wire rope around the guide pulleys under the traction hoist (See Fig.9) and press UP button to make the wire rope continue to go around the guide pulley (See Fig.10 ) until the rope end falls on the starting platform. ATTENTION! Please wear safety gloves for wire rope installation! 3S Lift Service Lift for Wind Turbine Generators 33 Lifting wire rope Safety wire rope wheels (See Fig.10 ) until it falls on the starting platform. 2.1.6 SECURE THE LIFTING/SAFETY WIRE ROPE Fig. 8 Wire rope inlet hole When the lifting wire rope and the safety wire rope hang down onto the starting platform from the guide wheel from rear side of the service lift, fix the counterweights on the wire ropes. The counterweight top of the safety wire rope is 200-400mm from the bottom of the starting platform, and the distance between top of lifting wire rope counterweight is 350-450mm from the top of the cable drum. (See Fig.11 ) ATTENTION! The counterweights should be free to be moved upwards and downwards, and the wire ropes are not tangled. . Move the service lift close to the guiding ladder. Connect guide wheels with the support arms to make the wheels run along the ladder beams. Install fixing plate and tighten connecting bolts. 2.1.5 FEED THE SAFETY WIRE ROPE a) Unlock the SafeLock by pushing the long lever; feed the safety wire rope’s end into the inlet hole of the SafeLock (See Fig. 9 ). b) After the wire passes through the SafeLock, route the wire rope through the guide pulleys underneath (See Fig. 9 ), and pull it to go through the rear guide 34 Installation Manual Fig. 12 Ultimate limit switch Top limit switch ATTENTION! During the installation for support arm, the service lift should be kept steady to avoid damage. Top sensing bar Top limit switch ATTENTION! The wheels should run smoothly after installing the support arm and there’s no binding or incline phenomenon. Fig. 14 2.1.8 INSTALL THE LIMIT SWITCH Limit switches (See Fig.14 ) Include top limit switch, top sensing bar, ultimate limit switch and bottom limit switch. 2.1.8.1 Installation of limit switches on top of cabin Installation personnel will install the top sensing switch, top limit switch, ultimate limit switch, bottom sensing limit switch, limit switch mounting bracket, and traction hoist mounting bracket is used to mount the traction hoist via fasteners, and then adjust the sensing probes onto the right angle. (See Fig. 13) Bottom limit switch 2.1.8.2 Installation of limit switches on the bottom of cabin Prior to install the bottom sensing switch, it shall ascend the service lift upwards about 1000mm away from the platform for installation of bottom limit switch, check the height of trigger probes and limit switch angle, to test the function of the bottom limit switch. (See Fig. 15 and 16) a) Firstly, check whether the connection status between bottom sensing panel and limiting displacement bar is normal, whether limiting displacement bar can move upwards and downwards normally, without clamping stagnation. b) Push upwards bottom sensing panel to the position, 20mm away from bottom surface of service lift supporting feet. c) Adjust bottom sensing switch located at the back of the equipment cabin to activated position, secure limit switch firmly. d) Loosen bottom sensing panel to its original position. e) Repeatedly push bottom sensing panel, to confirm whether bottom limit switch is located at the right position, adjust the probe of switch to realize the position fine adjustment, ensure the switch is activated normally. The distance between the top limit’s triggering point and the ultimate limit switch should be more than 30mm. 3S Lift Service Lift for Wind Turbine Generators 35 2.2.1 INSTALL THE GUIDE WIRE ROPE a) Bottom limit switch b) Bottom sensing panel The length of the Guide wire rope depends on the service lift’s working height inside the turbine tower. All wire ropes should be evenly uncoiled. Do not pull wire ropes over any sharp edges. Fix wire rope end with thimble to the corresponding shackles on the suspension beam Fig. 15 2.2.2 INSTALL THE WIRE ROPE GUIDE DEVICE Connect the guide devices onto the holes on both side of the service lift (See Fig. 17 and Fig.18) ATTENTION! Make the larger diameter side of the guiding wheel close to the service lift. Fig. 16 Bottom sensing limit switch Move upwards and downwards Test method: a) Push any part of the bottom sensing panel upward, it is qualified if an activated sound from bottom limit switch can be heard. b) When bottom limit switch is activated, the distance between the bottom sensing panel and the service lift’s feet should be more than 20mm. ATTENTION! Ensure all limit switches are sensitive and can automatically reset. 2.2 INSTALLATION FOR WIRE ROPE GUIDED SERVICE LIFT For installation of lifting wire rope, safety wire rope, stop disc, top sensing switch, Top limit switch, ultimate limit switch, and bottom sensing switch, please refer to the installation procedures of ladder guided service lift. (See Fig. 15 ) 36 Installation Manual Top guide device Fig.17 Bottom guide device Fig.18 2.2.3 INSTALL THE WIRE ROPE FIXING SLEEVES AND THE FIXING BRACKETS Insert the guiding wire into the wire rope fixing sleeves which installed on fixing brackets (See Fig. 19 ). Two wire rope fixing sleeves are installed on each platform, placed on both sides of the service lift. ATTENTION! After the wire rope fixing sleeves installed, make sure the guiding rollers can run through wire ropes smoothly. connected with the nylon rope, and the other end is connected with the back buckle of the guide wire rope. Tighten the wire rope by retraining the tightening device. h) When the indicating sign reaches within the white line in the green area, stop tightening and lock all the nuts that have not been tightened (Fig. 20-3). i) Draw a loose proof torque mark on the guide wire (Fig. 20-4) After a period of usage, the guide wire rope will be stretched. To keep the service lift runs safely, the wire ropes must be retightened. The position of the back buckle is higher than the bottom wire rope guide about 1m b) Put the pull rod through the bracket and fix ii onto the bottom of the starting platform. c) Assembly the components which are under tensioning bracket (Fig.20-1) d) Tie a circle uses a nylon rope (not less than 1t) and one end connects to the flat plate of pull rod (Fig. 20-2, 20-3). e) Put the guide wire rope through the tensioning bracket and fix the wire rope with the wire rope clip (do not tighten the wire rope, just not falls off). f) Put some grease on the bolt screws of the pull rod g) Uses a wire rope tightening device, one end is DANGER! 2.3.1 POWER SUPPLY a) b) c) d) The electrical connection of 3S Lift traction hoist must meet the requirement of EN 60204-1. Make sure the correct length before installation. b) Cross-sectional dimension of the cable is related to the length of the cable between the power supply and the 3S Lift traction hoist. c) The output power of power supply has the ability to provide at least 2.5 times of 3S Lift traction hoist’s rated power. After installation, all the pre-tightening bolts and nuts shall mark tightening torque lost line or screw thread anti-loose marks. 2.4 LIFTING HOLES ON SERVICE LIFT Lifting holes (See Fig. 22 ) is used to hoist the service lift onto the bottom platform of the wind turbine tower. Lifting holes 2 Cross-sectional dimensions (mm ) 3×2.5+2×1.5 or 5×2.5 2.3.3 POWER CONNECTION a) Make sure the power switch on the control box is turned off, and press EMERGENCY-STOP button. b) Check the connections of control box, traction hoist, and cable plugs. c) Assemble the cable collection bin and fix it onto the platform at proper position. d) Coil cable into the cable collection bin orderly; cable with socket passes through cable guide ring, to connect with cable plug of electric control box at the bottom or rear of service lift; hold the cable with a cable net bag to avoid any stress on the cable. e) Connect the plug of the other end of the cable through the hole on the cable collection bin with the power supply in the turbine tower. f) Turn on the power switch, and the status display panel on the control box will be lighted, then turn the E-STOP button clockwise to make it be in the released position. g) Prior to trial operation, ascend the service lift to the top of the wind turbine tower, and observe whether the cable has any twisting stress, which will affect the cable collecting function into the cable collection bin. If the cable has twisting stress, lock the service lift on the safety wire, unplug the cable plug, release the cable twisting 38 Installation Manual Fig. 22 2.5 INSTALLATION OF SERVICE LIFT’S POWER SWITCH BOX The power switch box is installed on the starting platform or the guard fence on the starting platform, which depends on the position of the power distribution cabinet. 2.5.1 PREPARATION OF INSTALLATION 2.5.1.1 The power’s voltage and frequency must be the same with the service lift’s. 2.5.1.2 Check the length of the cable, which depends on the height of the tower tube, the position of power supply. 2.5.1.3 Check every spare part according the packing list 2.5.2 Install the power switch box on the guard fence on the starting platform, or the reserved position (installation bracket or stud) on the platform. 2.6.6 Check the power switch box functions, open the power switch, check if all the indicative lamps can work well? 2.6.7 Check the electric control box, traction hoist and cable plug if connecting well? Purpose 1.1 To ensure safe operation of the service lift and operators’ safety; 1.2 To clarify the responsibilities between 3S Lift and end users to make sure the service lift is well maintained, repaired and safely operated. 1.3 The regulation is a supplementation of 3S Lift User’s Operation and Installation Instruction Manual; it is the manual’s appendix. 2. 3S lift’s responsibilities 2.1 During lift commissioning and acceptance process, 3S Lift is responsible to train customers for lift’s operation and maintenance. After training, 3S Lift offers an operation qualified certificate to the trainee, and records the trainee’s service management department, name, identification number, date of issue, date of expiration. 2.2 Warranty is counted since the date when lift starts to be used. 3S Lift is responsible for the repair of the products within the warranty, on the condition that the service lift used in a normal environment and correctly operated. 3S Lift is not responsible for the personal injuries or equipment damage before 3S Lift's acceptance if customer use the lifts earlier. 2.3 3S Lift is not responsible for the damages or incidents resulting from fault operation and maintenance result from not following 3S Lift operation manual. 2.4 The Customer Service Department in 3S Lift is responsible for tracking all products sold, and creating the database for service lift, and arranging regular inspection within warranty. 2.5 If the service lift is out of warranty or about to run out of warranty, if required, the Sales Department of 3S Lift is responsible to have customer to sign a contract named of “After-sale Service Contract of Lifts” to ensure the Lifts well maintained. 3. Customer’s responsibilities 3.1 The user shall always set an equipment administrator for service lift. If the initial user is the personnel of a turbine manufacturer, then the equipment administrator is from turbine manufacturer. If the user becomes the Production & Operation Department from the turbine manufacturer, then the equipment administrator will be the Production & Operation Department of the wind farm. The former equipment administrator is obligated to hand over the Operation and Installation Instruction Manual and the appendix of “3S Lift Safety Operation Regulation of Service lift” to the current user. 40 Installation Manual 3S Service Lift Appendix 1 3.2 The user’s equipment administrator is responsible for the safety operation, maintenance, regular inspection and major repair of the service lift. 3.3 The Equipment administrator is obligated to receive the file of “Operation and Installation Instruction Manual” and the appendix of “3S LIFT SERVICE LIFT SAFETY OPERATION AND ADMINISTRATION REGULATION”. File number: RND-WM-0063; 3.4 The Equipment administrator shall arrange the operator and maintenance personnel to get training and exams so as to get Service Lift operation qualified certificate. 3.5 An operator without certificate is not allowed to operate a service lift of 3S Lift individually, but the operator can operate or use the service lift with the accompanying of an operator who has the certificate. 3.6 The purpose of certification is to make sure that the equipment is correctly operated and to be able to find out potential problems and solve them so as to avoid accidents. 3.7 Operators should read carefully and understand the file of O&M manual. 3.8 The equipment administrator is responsible of creating files of all the installed Lifts. And he is also responsible for arranging inspection of SafeLock, replacement of damaged wire rope and regular maintenance, also for minor repair and major repair of the hoist. 3.9 If the service lift is out of warranty or about to run out of warranty, the user shall sign a contract named of “After sale Service Contract of Lifts” with 3S Lift to make sure the Lifts well maintained. 3.10 If no service contract is signed, the user shall receive and sign the following four files: 3.10.1 3S Lift Operation and Installation Instruction Manual 3.10.2 Service lift Safety Operation Regulation 3.10.3 3S Lift Service lift Rounds-Inspection Table Sheet 3.10.4 Notification Letter to Service lift User 3.10.5 All the files above state clearly that it is mandatory to keep the Lifts well maintained. 3S Lift is not responsible for the safety incidents due to poor running condition of service lift because the user does not perform regular maintenance. 4. Reference None 3S Lift User’s Operation and Installation Manual 41 3S Service Lift Appendix 2 Appendix 2: Service lift safe use instructions and precautions Service lifts safe use instructions and precautions 1. General Service lift is specialized suspended access equipment (SAE) for wind turbine generator; it comes to personal safety and property security of wind field. The safety operation of the wind farm is part of the safety production, which shall stick to the guideline of "safety first, precaution crucial ". The service lift shall be operated and used according to the associated provisions, and carry out periodic examination to guarantee safety operation fundamentally. 2. Reference "3S lift service lift user’s operation and installation manual" and "3S lift service lift safety operation and administration regulations” are the essential documents for operating service lift. The personnel are obliged to read and assimilate the Manual and regulations and identify the responsibilities. 3. Service lift safe operation 3.1 Personal qualification a) Only qualified personnel can perform the installation, maintenance and operation of the service lift and its suspension. b) The personnel must be over the age of 18 years old, and can understand the solutions to possible problems or have acquired professional training. The personnel’s educational level must be executed in accordance with the requirements of local laws and regulations. c) The personnel are obliged to read and understand this manual. d) The manual must be handed out to the operator and must always be available for reference. e) If a third party is entrusted with one of the above tasks, the owner shall appoint an experienced supervisor in charge of operation. 3.2 Safety protection a) The installation, ascent or descent of the service lift involves possible danger of falling. All people inside the danger area shall wear Personal Protective Equipment (safety helmet, full body harness, shoes and fall arrester, which will prevent from falling down by means of a safety system secured to the building. b) Anyone going in service lift must at all times wear PPE (safety helmet, full body harness, safety lanyard and fall arrester for the ladder). c) Rated load of service lift 240, max. Number of occupants is two people, overload not allowed. d) If push down the E-STOP buttons either inside or outside the cabin, all control operation shall be prohibited. e) Only in the situation of power-off or other emergency, the manual descent function can be used i) Follow instruction of marks on the cabin ceiling roof and manually push the red manual descent lever upward. ii) Centrifugal speed limiter inside the traction hoist will make the service lift descent at constant speed. iii) If stop pushing the lever, service lift will stop downward travelling. f) Must check unlocking and locking function of SafeLock each time before operation. 3.3 Supervisor periodic examination and inspection Before operating service lift, it shall carry out regular inspections in accordance with the regulations in “3S LIFT SERVICE LIFT USER’S OPERATION AND INSTALLATION MANUAL”. 3.4 Service lift annual inspection In the warranty period of service lift, the manufacturer shall take the responsibility. Beyond the warranty period, it can entrust manufacturer continue to provide after-sales service. If not, supervisor shall take the 42 3S Lift Service lift` 3S Service Lift Appendix 2 responsibility of the maintenance of the service lift. Manufacturer will not undertake any risk and responsibility of any losses and / or casualties due to use the service lift out of warranty period. 4. Manufacture will not bear the corresponding responsibility, if any of the following events occurs. 4.1 All the consequences are caused by untrained people operating the service lift without authorization; 4.2 All the consequences are caused by unqualified people operating the service lift without authorization; 4.3 All the consequences are caused by using unoriginal components and parts; for example: service lift breakdown or personnel casualties; 4.4 Violation of state, industry and wind farm safety regulations and “3S LIFT SERVICE LIFT USER’S OPERATION AND INSTALLATION MANUAL” requirements to operate service lift, which may cause service lift damage and personnel casualties; 4.5 Continue to use service lift which does not carry out the annual inspection or periodic maintenance, it might cause service lift damage and personnel casualties; 4.6 Because of intervening with other facilities of wind turbine tower, it might cause service lift damage and personnel casualties; 4.7 Because of other safety incidents, it might cause service lift damage and personnel casualties; 4.8 Because of earthquakes, landslides, fire and other natural disasters, which might cause service lift damage and personnel casualties; 4.9 Manufacture will not bear any responsibility of the consequences of force majeure. 5. Documentations 5.1 No matter who takes the responsibility of annual inspection, it shall record the following information for each annual inspection, including the flight number, service lift serial number, SafeLock number, traction hoist number, wire rope number (if any) and running time and etc. 5.2 It shall keep the detailed records of trouble spot, maintenance condition, replacement parts list and maintenance result, and it shall get confirmed with signature; 5.3 It shall take photos for all the essential parts and components for archiving; 5.4 All documents (both soft and hard copy) shall be archived following the procedures timely; 5.5 It shall sign the document transfer receipt after received the annual inspection relevant information handed over to owner, the person who signs the receipt has the responsibility to properly keep the files and at the right time, it can hand over to the administrative department for archival filing. 6. Unaccomplished matter, consult the provisions of “3s service lift user’s operation and installation manual”. 3S Lift User’s Operation and Installation Manual 43 3S Service Lift Appendix 3 Appendix 3: Safety measures General: The Service Lift is only to be used by personnel who have received instructions in operating the Lift in all predictable situations. These instructions can only be given by a person with the proper knowledge e.g. 3S Lift Trainer or Trainer approved by 3S Lift. The following precautions and procedures are to be followed during operation, and if the Lift stops and the manual emergency descent cannot be performed. IMPORTANT! Operating the Lift: Anyone going in the Lift must at all times wear PPE (safety helmet, full body harness, safety double hooks, lanyard and fall arrester for the ladder). EVACUATION of personnel from the Lift is only necessary in extreme situations such as manual descent function does not work properly. (Evacuation will take half door/window at front service lift as an example.) 3S Lift recommends the following procedures: 1. User(s) open the front door/window, attaches one hook of safety lanyard to the yellow anchor(s) outside the cabin. (See Fig.1) 2. User(s) climbs onto the adjacent ladder and connect user’s another hook onto the ladder to secure the user’s safety. (See Fig.2) Fig.1 Fig.2 3. After safe anchoring in the ladder area, user(s) releases the anchor outside the cabin of service lift. (See Fig.3) 4. User(s) climbs to the other side of the ladder with proper safety technique and attaches the fall arrester to the lifeline on the ladder. (See Fig.4) 5. User(s) can now climb safely up or down the ladder. (See Fig.5) Fig.3 Fig.4 RESCUE of a person from the lift is only necessary in extreme situations. Fig5 If necessary 3S Lift recommends taking the following procedures: 1. The rescuer climbs up along the work side of the ladder with ladder fall arrester onto at the same level as the service lift stays. 2. Rescuer sets suitable safety with one hook of the safety lanyard in the ladder area. After safe anchoring to the ladder area, the rescuer can release the ladder fall arrester from the ladder lifeline. 44 3S Lift Service lift` 3. Rescuer climbs to the other side of the ladder, opens the front door/window of the lift, and attaches the other hook of the safety lanyard to the yellow anchor outside the lift cabin. 4. Check that the person to be rescued is conscious or unconscious. 5. Traction Hoist: The traction hoist shall replace gearbox oil and cable separator every 250 hours; check the centrifugal over-speed governor and motor electromagnetic brake, if the friction materials of friction plate are less than 3mm, it shall be replaced. SafeLock: It is required to check and test the unlocking, locking and stalling locking function of SafeLock (Inspection according to 9.1.2). Lifting wire rope (running through the traction hoist): For 9m/min or 10.7m/min hoist, when the accumulated service time of lifting wire rope has exceeded or approached to 250 hours, the lifting wire rope should be replaced. There must be a absorbing device between connector and safety harness. The maximum load that allows to transmit in service from the anchor device to the structure is 22KN in ±15° vertical direction. The maximum deflection of the safety anchor occurred in service is 10mm. The position of the anchor point is crucial for fall arrest – the height of the fall, elongation of lanyard and energy absorber or pendulum movement of the user should be considered in order to minimize the risk of impact in obstacles in case of a fall. Modifications or use non original 3S Lift components are prohibited The 3S Lift Service lift Safety ANCHOR is for the use of one person only. It’s strictly forbidden to carry out working when the person is in unfit mental or physical condition. Working under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any medication which would influence the safety is prohibited. Secured the nuts with force moment 15 N·m. Before mounting the 3S Lift Service lift SAFETY ANCHOR in heights, ensure that it has taken proper measures against fall from height by using relevant fall arrest equipment. 3.
