Currently, Russia ranks first in the world in terms of natural gas production (590 595 billion m3 out of 2.4 trillion. m3 of gas production in the world). Currently, the main volume of natural gas production is provided by the north of Western Siberia (over 90% of the total volume). The largest natural gas fields here are: Urengoyskoye, Medvezhye, Nadym group of fields, etc. The entry into the world market also affected the state of the gas industry. In addition, the gas industry was headed by very strong managers, high-level professionals: A.K. Kortunov, B.C. Chernomyrdin, R.I. Vyakhirev. The merit lies in the fact that they showed foresight in preserving a single industry and contributed to its high prestige within Russia and abroad. In addition to Western Siberia, significant volumes of gas are produced in the Orenburg and Astrakhan regions. Some volumes of gas production are provided by the Komi Republic. Gas production at Vuktyl from 15-16 billion m3 per year. Currently, Gazprom carries out close external economic relations with a number of Western European countries. We have established long-standing and reliable contacts with companies such as Ruhrgaz, Mannesman, AEG (Germany). These companies are the main consumers of Russian gas and instead supply pipes of different diameters, equipment for compressor and oil pumping stations, etc. to Russia. Relations with these countries are hindered by the policy of Ukraine, through which gas is transported to Western Europe. As an exit, it is planned to build a bypass gas pipeline through Belarus, Poland, Slovakia.
