Maslenitsa
The history of the
Maslenitsa has its
roots deep in
antiquity.
The history of the
Maslenitsa has
its roots deep in
antiquity.
It has always been the
most fun and favorite
Slavic holiday. It was
believed that a person
who spent Shrovetide
badly and boringly
would be unsuccessful
throughout the year..
For a whole week it was
impossible to think
about business and
household chores.
Unrestrained gluttony
and fun were seen as a
guarantee of future
well-being, prosperity
and success.
But the most
important thing is
pancakes!
Pancake is a symbol of
the sun. The same
round and hot. They
are served on the table
with fervor. With
butter, sour cream,
caviar, mushrooms choose for every taste.
Pancakes had a ritual meaning: round, ruddy,
hot, they were a symbol of the sun, which
flared up brighter and brighter, lengthening
the days.
Monday – the "Meeting" begins
On this day, they
celebrate Carnival, dress
up a stuffed doll.
Tuesday – "The Game"
On this day, they build snow fortresses, buffoons
sing their ditties.
Wednesday is a "Treat"
On this day, every housewife conjures at the
stove. Bakes pies, kulebyaks, cheesecakes.
Thursday – "Walk around"
Thursday is revelry. The
most fun day. They carry a
stuffed animal on a wheel,
ride a sleigh. Songs are
being sung.
Friday – "Mother-in-law's evenings"
The mother-in-law invites her son-inlaw for pancakes.
Saturday – "Sister-in-law's treat"
The
daughter-inlaw gives
gifts.
On this day, they burn an effigy and
finally say goodbye to winter.
Sunday is the " Forgiven Day "
The last day of Carnival. The festivities are ending. They
ask for forgiveness, they do merciful deeds.
Burn, burn clearly So that it doesn't go
out!
