Ìåæäóíàðîäíàÿ ñèñòåìà ÑÈ õîðîøî ïðèñïîñîáëåíà äëÿ ïðàêòè÷å
ñêèõ èíæåíåðíûõ èçìåðåíèé. Îíà ìàëî îòëè÷àåòñÿ îò ýëåêòðîòåõíè
÷åñêîé ñèñòåìû, ïðåäëîæåííîé Äæîðäæè â íà÷àëå ÕÕ âåêà (ñì. Ïðè
ëîæåíèå). Â òî âðåìÿ óðàâíåíèÿ Ìàêñâåëëà ìàëî èñïîëüçîâàëèñü â
ýëåêòðîòåõíèêå, ïðåîáëàäàëè ìåõàíè÷åñêèå âîççðåíèÿ íà ïðèðîäó ýëåê
òðîìàãíèòíîãî ïîëÿ. Ñ òî÷êè çðåíèÿ ðàññìîòðåííîé âûøå ñòðóêòóðû
áåçðàçìåðíûõ ïàðàìåòðîâ óðàâíåíèé Ìàêñâåëëà âûáîð åäèíèö ñèñòå
ìû ÑÈ ïðåäñòàâëÿåòñÿ ñîâåðøåííî ñëó÷àéíûì, õîòÿ âïîëíå äîïóñòè
ìûì. Ñ òåîðåòè÷åñêîé òî÷êè çðåíèÿ ïðåäïî÷òèòåëüíîé ÿâëÿåòñÿ ñèñòå
ìà ÌÊÑ, äëÿ êîòîðîé âñå êîýèöèåíòû ðàâíû åäèíèöå, êðîìå êîý
èöèåíòîâ γ è δ , êàæäûé èç êîòîðûõ ðàâåí 1/c2 (ñì. òàáëèöó 1).
